Analytical Exposition of Asian Games
Asian Games which also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. This event is recently participated by 45 different countries. This includes 40 different kinds of sports. After the event, Asian Para Games will be held. The opening of the 18th Asian Games was in August 18th, while the closing ceremony was held in September 2nd. The competition of this year’s Asian Games was held in Jakarta and Palembang.
Asian Games also gave a huge contribution on the tourism and hospitality industries in both cities. “Occupancy rates at hotels near sports venues in Jakarta and Palembang reached 100 percent," the chairman of ASITA, Asnawi told reporters last week. He said Indonesia should consider presenting annual world-class events, such as Formula One, Grand Prix motorcycle race, etc. to boost tourism.
The athletes and supporters also gave a big contribution on our business sectors. “The Government selected 15 companies and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) as license holders to produce and sell official 2018 Asian Games merchandise. This election was to provide a greater impact on the Indonesian economy. Meanwhile, based on the calculation of the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), the direct economic impact of the 2018 Asian Games is Rp. 45.1 trillion.”
Indonesia has succeeded to be on the top 4 of the medal tally. China, Japan and South Korea are still above us in the top 3. We gained 31 gold, 24 silvers, and 43 bronze in total from the competition. The 4th Asian Games that was held in Indonesia was such a successful one as well because we gained a lot of medals. This year, beat our medal tally record in 1962, according to the Official Asian Games online web page.
Indonesia felt honored to be the host of the 18th Asian Games this year. We thanked all of the participation and contribution of all the participated countries. The event wouldn’t be such a success without all the support. We also felt proud of the achievement that our athletes gained from the competition.
